FRIENDLY CRUISING - ON THE WATER COMMUNITY - ACTIVE, SOCIAL BOATING EXPERIENCES
The Baldwin Yacht Club has approximately 120 member families. Our fleet comprises 60% sailboats and 40% power boats. Most of our members live in Connecticut and Rhode Island with 20% residing in Florida, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts.
We pride ourselves on hosting well organized on-the-water events at least twice a month at many different ports with fun activities for all and 3 casual sail race weekend events. In addition, the club hosts an annual two-week cruise exploring the waters of Fisher's Island, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Participation at all or some of the cruise is welcome! Come for a few days, a long weekend, a week whatever your schedule will allow! Our boating season begins Memorial Day Weekend with our traditional Commissioning at the Mystic Seaport and ends at Hamburg Cove on Columbus Day.
Baldwin Yacht Club members also have access to club maintained moorings at Block Island, Stonington Harbor, North Cove and Hamburg Cove on the Connecticut River, West Harbor at Fisher’s Island, Mason’s Island and in Montauk, New York.
In the "off-season" we host several gatherings, including a New England skiing event, a Florida snowbird rendezvous, and a dinner dance in April at the US Coast Guard Academy Officer's Club.

Today at Baldwin’s 63rd commissioning we have 38 boats averaging 38 ft at Mystic Seaport.
Two years ago I reprised Tom Russell’s 2002 report on the 1st Commissioning at Mystic Seaport in 1972. Our Commodore asked me to speak of any events that have stood out in my mind.
We all know that the Baldwin Yacht Club is found “wherever 2 or more boats are moored under the Baldwin Flag”. However, its members define the character of the club.
It is a privilege to have our commissioning here at Mystic Seaport. The history for today focuses on that 1st Baldwin Commissioning at this Seaport in 1972.
As Historian, I am writing about of some of the proud traditions of Baldwin Yacht Club.
Today we are celebrating the 66th commissioning of the Baldwin Yacht Club and the 43rd commissioning at Mystic Seaport.
